Facing Gall Bladder Surgery, Avicii Forced to Cancel Ultra Music Festival DJ Set

After entering the hospital upon his arrival in Miami this week, Avicii has issued a statement about his health. Doctors have told him that he needs to have his gall bladder removed, which has forced him to cancel is appearance at Ultra Music Festival. He has assured fans that he will recover in time to launch his US True Tour. Deadmau5, who once ranted about how awful UMF is for fans, will take his place on the bill.

“I’m really sorry but as some of you have already heard, I will not be playing Ultra Festival this weekend.

My fans know that I have had issues in the past with my stomach and pancreatitis…I woke up on Wednesday morning with serious pain but I flew to Miami anyway, hoping that it would go away. The pain was still there when I landed so I went straight to hospital. I was treated and left later that night.

Unfortunately, the pain came back yesterday afternoon and I returned to the hospital where they admitted me to stay overnight.

My doctors have decided to operate and remove my gall bladder tomorrow morning.

It’s a routine procedure and all going well, I expect to be fully recovered and back on my feet in time for my US True Tour.

Thanks for your concern everyone, it means a lot to me!”

Avicii mansion

Swedish DJ/producer Avicii is living large in Los Angeles. According to Curbed, the 24-year-old bought a 7,000-square-foot mansion with an open floor plan for an estimated $15.5 million. His stylish abode sports five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a 75-foot-long lap pool, home theatre (of course), walk-in closets, tons of modern amenities and majestic views of the surrounding Hollywood Hills. If you’re thinking about popping by to pay him a visit, a security system using fingerprint recognition technology will politely send you on your way.

Avicii isn’t the only DJ star in Los Angeles with a killer house. In 2011, Moby relocated from New York City to a mansion in the Hollywood Hills. According to the New York Times, Moby paid just under $4 million for the house adding another $2 million into a major restoration project. Last year, Scottish DJ/producer/singer also moved into the Hollywood Hills, buying a four-bedroom, seven-bath mansion. It’s definitely time for MTV to bring back Cribs, only focusing on baller DJ homes.

Ultra Music Festival, Weekend 1, Day 3 Recap [Gallery]

Snoop Dogg UMF

Day three of weekend one of Ultra Music Festival 15 was by far the maddest of all of all three days. The crowds were thick spilling out into the streets and lawns at every stage, worldwide music buffs getting their last fix for the weekend packing in every minute of beats, bass and lasers to take back to their native homeland. Camped out at the Mega Structure for most of the night, the night was nothing short of an amazing time, visually with laser light show mixed in just perfectly to the playlist picks of the talent on stage, you couldn’t have asked for a better ending to a weekend long of music mania.

With Avicii sliding up a slot to fill in for Calvin Harris who’s flight was delayed, he laid down sweet, body-moving sounds. Tiësto never ceases to amaze with people coming from every structure, piled deep from stage front all the way to the bar back, tuned in and fist pumping with the best of them. Taking brief breather popping over to the Life Stage to see the legendary ’90s superstar, classic and timeless, showing out on stage as only Snoop Dogg (or Snoop Lion as he is now known) knows how to. Head bobbin, hip shaking to the old and new grooves of this lyrical Rico Suave closing out with “Young, Wild, and Free” with the fans continuing the song on to their next stop. Although delayed,Harris showed and put on a show with the catchy radio stream hooks getting the crowd singing along as they danced their hearts out.

Closing out the night, David Guetta played his heart, transferred to the crowd where people danced their face off until the night came to and end. Weekend one of Ultra Music Festival 15 was the kickoff that Miami Music Week asked for and more.
