DJ Shadow Receives Apology from Mansion

DJ-Shadow

DJ Shadow has received an apology from Mansion nightclub in Miami after he was taken off the decks due to not playing commercial enough music. Shadow has taken the incident in stride, tweeing: “I appreciate everyone’s support. Obviously I should have never been booked there in the first place. Square peg in a round hole, etc.” The iconic DJ/producer has promised to post the mix from the night at some point. DJ Shadow plays one more show before the end of the year on December 29 at Fort Mason Center for Wintersalt in San Francisco. Here is Mansion’s full statement.

“We offer our most sincere apologies to DJ Shadow and his fans for his set being cut short at Mansion this past weekend. This error should not have happened and will not happen again, especially as we pride ourselves on creating an environment that cultivates and respects innovators such as DJ Shadow. We have learned a lot from this error and made changes within our organization to ensure that Mansion’s vision, and the vision of our guests, will never be compromised again.” -Mansion Nightclub, Miami

Promoters Postpone Miami’s UR1 Festival, Citing Continued Effects of Hurricane Sandy

The first edition of UR1 Music & Art Festival scheduled to take place at Miami’s Bayfront Park on December 8-9 has been postponed. The event’s promoters say they are rescheduling due to a weather forecast that predicts strong winds. A check with AccuWeather predicts a sunny, less humid day on December 8 with temperatures around 80 degrees with winds at ESE 6 mph and gusts of 12 mph. Same forecast for December 9 with winds at ESE 8 mph and gusts of 18 mph Here’s the full statement below via Crossfade.

UR1 Festival Postponement Announcement

It is with deep regret that we announce the postponement of the first annual UR1 Music & Art Festival due to circumstances beyond our control, including:

– Foreseeable inclement weather conditions in the Miami-Dade and South Florida region;
– Continued effects of the recent Hurricane Sandy.

In consideration of these and other factors including the safety and wellbeing of our fans and performing artists we have come to this tough decision. Understandably this has had an ancillary effect on ticket sales and business logistics. It has always been our mission to produce events of the utmost quality and safety.

The new dates for the UR1 Music & Art Festival will be announced shortly. New dates will be chosen when weather conditions satisfy the safety of our fans, artists and staff. Once the dates are released you may chose to retain your ticket, as we will accept it at the festival. Alternatively should you choose to be refunded, information and instructions on how to do so can be found at www.ur1festival.com/tickets. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

We would also like to inform you that we are making every effort to showcase some of the talent that was scheduled to perform and exhibit at the festival in various locations around Miami. For those of you who would like to join us and the talent that will continue on to be showcased pending forthcoming dates to be announced, UR1 Ticket holders will have the opportunity to use their festival ticket at events around Miami during Basel week. A list of events accepting UR1 Tickets & Vouchers will soon be listed at www.ur1festival.com

Sincerely,

The UR1 Music & Art Festival Family
