ED ED’s 5 Tracks of the Moment

ED-ED

With releases in the books for Defected and Noir, and a primo list of DJ credentials including sets at Berghain Canteen, Cookies and Sisyphos, Berlin-based housemeister ED ED roars into 2015 with his raucous Caught Up EP for Andre Crom’s OFF Recordings. It’s a standout release wielding monumental basslines and deeply meditative and soulful hooks.

When he’s not in the studio or DJ booth ED ED oversees A&R at Sasse’s Moodmusic label, so you know he’s in the know. We checked in with the rising jock and asked him to share five tunes that are currently rocking his musical world.

ED ED’s Caught Up EP is out February 23 on OFF Recordings. Catch him at Calabar in Dubai on February 27 and Golden Gate in Berlin on March 15.

1. Few Nolder – “Clouds” (Boso Reversion)
This is a great production on Mario Basanov’s BOSO label. Love the bassline and all-round atmosphere. Great track for opening a set or just driving into the sunrise with your car.

2. Sasse – “1983” Remixes (Dosem – Sierra Sam)
Sasse has been putting out great productions for years. This is a rework of Sasse’s 1983 EP track. I particularly like the Dosem remix…nice swingy drums great for a early building set at a club. The hi-hats roll nicely with the Arp synth loop! Sierra Sam’s remix is a great floor opener as well.

3. Sacha Robotti & Kevin Knapp – “Thump Bumper”
I like the funky touch on this track. Very smooth vocal sample and great sawtooth synth to give it some aggression. Sascha Robotti, who usually teams up with Cord as Robosonic, really nails it with Kevin Knapp on this one.

4. Gene Farris – “Move Your Body” (Oliver Dollar Remix)
Great rework of this classic by Oliver Dollar, who did a great remix for my Defected single last winter, with very driving vocals from Gene Farris. Oliver always delivers with his great drum programming and driving arrangements.

5. Julian Ganzer – “Instant Belief”
I love to play this track in my setlist. Get Physical always delivers and this track is no exception. The synths are amazing and the drum programming is very intricate and precise. Always works for me on the club floor.
