A new legion of French young dance-music producers are carving out their own terrain on the dance floor in a big way. This month alone this very publication has covered two French up-and-comers, Klingande and BeatauCue, and now we’re pleased to tell you about a third: Kulkid.

After cutting a big remix for Foals’ “Out of the Woods” and an acclaimed bootleg of Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going,” the emerging house star steps out with his debut two-track EP, Forgot About Kul/I Need U (download it for free here), a pair of emotional house tracks that hints at bigger things to come.

French house duo Klingande — Cédric Steinmyller and Edgar Catry — have been tearing it up since 2013 courtesy of their breakthrough single “Jubel.” After topping the singles charts in eight countries and touring Germany, Sweden, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Ireland, Austria, Romania and the Netherlands, the song has finally received an official release in the States (watch their video below). We’re told a summer tour of the U.S. is in the works, so it’s safe to say Americans will be seeing and hearing a lot of these saxophone loving 22-year-olds in the coming weeks. For three decades British house hero Luke Solomon has unwaveringly championed a musical ethos that’s deep and soulful. Even when he’s flirted with pop music, he’s done so on his own terms with his his integrity in check. Solomon, who famously co-founded Classic Music Company along with Derrick Carter, recently restarted his Business As Usual: Live from the Washhouse radio show (listen to the April edition here), a program in which he goes beyond the traditional mix show format by championing new tracks as well as rare nuggets. The mixmaster extends his good musical vibes to Luke Solomon’s Unfinished Business Volume 1, an upcoming 32-track compendium featuring tracks by James Curd, Matthew Styles, DJ Nature and Mikey V out May 24 on his aforementioned imprint. Revered British band Red Snapper have been pushing boundaries as a trio and on individual ventures since the early ’90s. During a career that’s seen them issue several choice albums for Warp to performing all over the place, they’ve remained staunchly independent while never compromising one note of their music. May is a big month for the outfit. In advance of the September 7 release of their seventh album, Hyena, on Lo Recordings, they will issue The Card Trick EP on May 26 featuring remixes from Auntie Flo, Tici Taci and Rich Thair. Red Snapper, who are famous for their captivating live shows, will perform with a full band on May 24 at Scala in London on a killer bill featuring Venetian Snares and Luke Vibert.
