Eclectic Berlin DJ/Producer Daso Franke Dies After Cancer Battle

Berlin-based producer Daso Franke — better known to dance music fans as Daso — has passed away after a battle with cancer, according to multiple reports on social media.

Daso was born in Poona, India, soaking up Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix and pop radio. He made his debut as a producer in 2006 with “Daybreak” released on Traum’s house-oriented sub-label My Best Friend (MBF).

He went on to release records on Spectral, Connaisseur, Popcorn, Nsyde, and FLASH. He also remixed tracks for Butch, Oliver Koletzki and Jens Friebe and collaborate with Franklin de Costa, Juli Holz, Jin Choi and Pawas.

In terms of style, his disparate tracks were informed by a multitude of styles, including rave, house and techno. In addition to his flawless studio work, Daso was well known for his energetic live performances.
