Things aren’t always as they seem. That’s the learning we took away after watching the offbeat music video for rising Madrid producer Carreno is LB’s “Aesthetic Reflection.” The retro clip focuses on a suburban home where everything on the surface appears to be in order but isn’t. The kitchen cabinets don’t open properly, Stepford Wives robotically roam about and visions of a smoldering fire randomly appear. Watch the world premiere of the video below directed by Jason Poranski and explore Carreno is LB’s emotive Preface EP out now on hafendisko.

Premiere: Cacao Trio – Tears & Rum
Cacao Trio is the musical union between Panamanian brothers K.E.E.N.E. and Guatemalan mixmaster Gonzo-Gonzo. On the Central American trio’s outstanding second outing, the upcoming From Ceiba To Leon EP, the triumvirate bring into being a pair of thrilling tech-house tracks. We’re pleased to world premiere “Tears & Rum,” a deep, murky roller coaster ride propelled by killer percussion across a composition brandishing thrilling twists and turns galore. Get a first listen to the track below and check out the EP featuring a remix by Tigerskin on October 17.
Premiere: Time Traveler – Alpha
Time keeps on slipping into the future. It’s a fact that doesn’t sit well with Italian producer Michele Pinna. After conversations with his father about time (as well as galaxies and space), he channelled his angst into his Time Traveler nom de plume and subsequently conjured a bleak, compelling experimental techno soundscape that speaks to his fear of the unknown. It resulted in I’m Made of Stars, a striking full-length album out now on Pinna’s new label, Chronicles Diary. An eye-catching visual component evolved too through multiple collaborations with photographers, stylists and designers Nicolas Mazzei, Danila Tkachenko, Khourianbeer and Cinzia Araia. We’re pleased to world premiere “Alpha” from the album. It’s a meditative, foreboding and sonically raw statement — one in which Pinna’s paranoia is palpable but not suffocating. And be check out The Remixes Report I EP featuring interpretations of Pinna’s tracks crafted by Brian Sahnaji, Black Asteroid, Bas Mooy and DJ Hyperactive out October 14.
Video Premiere: Drumcomplex feat. Misstress Barbara – If You Can’t Be Mine
When Arnd Reichow (Drumcomplex) met Misstress Barabra in Australia at the beginning of 2016, the seeds of a musical collaboration were sown between the two techno heavyweights. While Arnd was finalizing tracks for his Perfection Is In Imperfection full-length out October 7 on Complexed Records — the album is inspired by the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi, meaning an appreciation and acceptance of our imperfect world — he sent Barbara a track that eventually became “If You Can’t Be Mine” and asked if she’d like to lend her voice to it. “There was no special inspiration when I started working on that track,” says Arnd, who has released tracks on Intec, Bush Records, MB Electronics and KMS. “I was playing with the synth and created that hookline. I added only a few elements and reduced it to a more minimal set up at that time.” Barbara picks up the story: “I immediately thought it was something that needed to be simple and mostly worked with effects and chops of vocals. I wrote simple lyrics that still have a strong meaning, If you can’t be mine, why would I be yours? and played around with both sentences in the track. I had a lot of fun! We are both happy with the result and I enjoy playing this track a lot when I tour.”
We’re extremely pleased to world premiere the music video for the bristling take-no-prisoners cut starring Arnd and Barbara. It boasts eye-catching digital effects and geometric shapes that’ll make those of a certain age recall the classic video game Asteroids. “Barbara and me are really happy with the result and looking forward to the release,” beams Arnd. Catch Drumcomplex, along with Misstress Barbara, Kevin De Vries and Tiger Stripes, on October 8 at the record release party in Berlin at Magdalena Club.
