Premiere: Mat Andasun – Beginning

Mat Andasun

For our first premiere of 2022, we eschew the allure of a booming 4/4 beat for “Beginning,” a spacious ambient excursion spiced with spoken word, crafted by producer/composer/multi-instrumentalist Mat Andasun.

Culled from Andasun’s Full Circuit full-length out January 21, 2022 via Pretty Decent Music, the track is part of a multi-part album that wrestles with a narrative “of the living, the dying and the unknown, told through dreamy synth underscores and inspirational electronic instrumentals.”

Video Premiere: Gagarin – Panceat (Emergo Mix)

GAGARIN

In November 2020, producer/musician Graham “Dids” Dowdall released his Great North Wood full-length under his Gagarin moniker in all of its ambient splendor.

A veteran who has played with Nico, Didwell has collaborated with John Cale, Ludus, Eric Random, Suns of Arqa, Band of Holy Jo and Low Bias, and is a member of avant rock legends Pere Ubu and duo Roshi featuring Pars Radio.

Today we’re pleased to world premiere the music video for the remixed version of “Panceat” from the album.

On the self-produced six-minute clip, Didwell explores the colors and textures of a large sheet of rust as the remix explores the depths of ambient techno. He says the rusty metal signifies the concept of nature and the beginning of the post-industrial age in London.

Video Premiere: Tush – Wavy Baby

Tush

Tush is an indie Canadian electronic music duo comprised of Kamilah Apong (lead vocals, backing vocals, vocal loops, synthesizers) and Jamie Kidd (bass, guitar, synthesizers, programming).

Hailing from Toronto, the twosome draw musical inspiration from electro-funk, disco and soulful ’90s house music.

Ahead of the release of the pair’s debut album, Fantast, on July 30 via Do Right! Music, we’re stoked to world premiere the music video for “Wavy Baby” from their upcoming full-length.

The clip produced by Apong and Stephanie Kuse utilizes undulating and evocative computer art to accompany the elegant mid-tempo track.

Video Premiere: Nother feat. Grecale – Dance Like An Animal

Stefano Milella

Stefano Milella cut his musical teeth producing, drumming and composing soundtracks for film and television. The Italian producer has poured his lifetime of experience into his electronic-driven solo project called Nother.

Ahead of the release of his Future Is Bright on July 22 via Abyond Music, we’re pleased to world premiere “Dance Like An Animal” featuring Grecale from the upcoming full-length.

“For this song, I tried to make the voice feel as organic as possible, and bring it closer to the sound of an instrument rather than that of a voice,” explains Milella.

“I worked mostly with my headphones on as I wanted to surround the listener with layers made of Grecale’s vocals, with one whispering behind your back as the other approaches you from the front. During the explosion, you can hear children laughing, and that was the sound that inspired ‘Dance Like an Animal.’ I recorded it in a park in Stockholm where they were playing, and I created the song around this joyful vibe, a call to play again and discover the happiness of a single moment.”
