Video Premiere: Meeting by Chance – “Koi”

Meeting By Chance Marcin Cichy

Known for his work with Polish duo Skalpe and an array of collaborative projects, producer Marcin Cichy steps out on his own with his downtempo solo project Meeting by Chance. On MbC’s upcoming debut album, Inside Out, the Warsaw-Based producer forges a dreamy soundscape comprised of elements of ambient, electronica and leftfield. He’s joined on the album by three one-named vocalists Ayuko and Mayuko, who both record for Japanese label FLAU, and Magda.

We’re pleased to premiere the video for the delicate cut “Koi” directed by Aubo Lessi from the upcoming full-length. It’s guaranteed to soothe your mind, body and soul.

Video Premiere: Tsaik – “Tehraj”

tsaik

If we attempted to describe the video for Tsaik’s new single, “Tehraj,” you’d probably think we were just tripping our asses off on some obscure hallucinogenic concoction, so we won’t even try to detail the weird, wondrous visions that occupy the clip. Words wouldn’t do them justice anyway, and you can easily see the whole thing for yourself below. The song that goes along with it is appropriately kaliedoscopic, full of gleefully glitchy twists and turns, and hypnotic in an endlessly engaging way. Influenced by everyone from Bonobo and Burial to Boards of Canada (and even a few folks whose names don’t start with “b”), the Chicago duo of 20-year-olds Jacob McArthur and Joshua Ruffolo have crafted a sound that’s at once accessible and otherworldly. Brought to you by the Lost Tribe label, “Tehraj” and its accompanying remixes from Nuara, Pamina and SUGARQUOTE are like glimpses of an alternate reality that just might be a hell of a lot more fun than the one we’re living right now.

Video Premiere: Begun – “Dora”

beGun - 01- Borja Conde (2013)

While beGun (a.k.a. Gunsal Moreno) hasn’t been on the scene for very long, in the last couple of years he has already become one of the hottest musical properties to emerge from Barcelona. On December 18, Ham House Records will release his new single, “Dora.” Africa was the inspiration for the track, and beGun did his homework.

“Before we started working on the project we studied the sounds (spiritual music, tone patterns, traditional instruments etc), as well as the visual narrative (political conflicts, immigration, spirituality),” he says.

The video, directed by Borja V. Conde, revolves around sex workers and the harsh realities of their everyday lives. Accompanying the original track will be remixes from Applescal and Blackbird Blackbird. And if you want to see beGun work his magic in front of an audience, you can catch him at XOYO in London, on a bill with Booka Shade and others.

Video Premiere: Dapayk & the Elektron Analog Rytm

DAPAYK

In September German techno-house troubadour Dapayk Solo (a.k.a. Niklas Worgt) took the reigns of Big Shot Guest Mix 305, offering up a session encompassing his two-decade journey behind the boards. Those of us who’d like to see the maestro at work are in luck as we’re world premiering his new video, a 28-minute live mix filmed in Canyamel, Mallorca.

But first a bit of background: Dapayk Solo started his Nerdsession project on YouTube in October 2014. The idea behind it was to present different machines and what they are capable of as well as his creativity as a producer and live act. Since he travels around the world with these machines, he’s more than intimate with them. Go and watch this joy for the eyes and ears below.
