Fresh from releasing “Fill Me Up,” Miami-based progressive house Stan Kolev takes the reigns of our latest Big Shot Guest Mix.

“I spent almost three months touring in Europe last summer and when I got back to Miami I was fully charged and ready to get back to the studio, because I was so inspired by all the emotions and positive experiences during that trip, and also by the beautiful voice of Sula Mae,” he says of his latest and greatest. “I love to use vocals in my music, especially if they are unique. I think it adds another dimension to the creative process. Sula Mae has a unique blend in her voice that I would describe as mellow jazzy melancholy. The combination of that and any electronic music composition is unique.”

Kolev’s ten-track session brandishes his trademark bold, techy prog-house signature. “I wanted to create a deep and melodic mix, so I’ve included four of my latest tracks to give the Big Shot listeners an insight into my musical style. Plus, there’s some really cool tracks by Betoko, Quivver, Jeremy Olander, Julian Wassermann and Nora En Pure.”

Slovakian DJ/producer Andy BSK (a.k.a. Andrej Belak) is one of the forerunners of hardgroove techno, a hard-hitting, take-no-prisoners sub genre brimming with grooves and energy. A prolific artist who has been producing records since he was 16, he went into the lab and fired off an exclusive Big Shot Guest Mix featuring tracks by Bryan Kearney, Proteck, Jon Connor and Ignition Technician. The 18-track session also features his unreleased track “Pyramids.”

Here’s what he had to say about the mix:

I mixed this DJ set for every hardgroove fan. It’s mixed so that you can just only listen and enjoy the tracks but it’s good for dancing too. I don’t have any plan [sic] when I am playing. I just start playing and the tracks come…. It’s all about how I feel or from my mood. Hope you all will like this DJ set. Let the Hardgroove force be with you all. Peace!

To commemorate the release of his absolutely gorgeous Egypt EP released last month on Steve Bug’s Audiomatique label, Italian DJ/producer Rowee (a.k.a. Leonardo Gonnelli), who has issued cuts on Seth Troxler’s Play It Say It and Damian Lazarus’ Rebellion, has crafted a sublime DJ mix which we’re extremely pleased to world premiere. His 11-track session is a snapshot of his sound and brandishes blissful tracks by like-minded deep-tech voyagers Stimming, Rampa, DJ Koze and Adam Port. Spoiler alert! At the end of the mix Rowee peppers in Kocleo’s re-rub and the original version of “Egypt” and it sounds freakin’ brilliant. Hit the play button below and enjoy.

What a year it’s been for our Big Shot Guest Mix series. Over the past 12 months, we’ve brought you exclusive sessions from masters including Chicago house visionary Tevo Howard, Oliver Way of Detroit Grand Pubahs, and a post-everything voyage navigated by Parisian From Karaoke to Stardom.

We couldn’t close out 2016 in a better way than this session helmed by Purveyors of Fine Funk, which is the recently rebooted ’90s house alter ego of techno don and Metamorphic Recordings boss Dan Curtin.

Over the course of 15 funky-ass, deep-house tracks, Curtin lays fiery down cuts by Louie Vega & Jocelyn Brown, DJ Sneak, DJ Gomi and Paul Johnson. He also includes the stomping title track from POFF’s Soul Message EP on now Metamorphic.

“This is the house sound of Purveyors,” describes Curtin, “a little bit soul, little bit future, little bit jack, little bit dirty. This mix digs deep into those feelings, basically just keeping things real.” Enjoy!
