Video Premiere: Gagarin – Eskil (Prophane’s Dark Angeline Mix)

Gagarin Prophane's Dark Angeline Mix

We’ve sung the praises of musical explorer Graham “Dids” Dowdall many times.

In addition to crafting compelling ambient/electronica soundscapes under his Gagarin alias, he’s played with Nico, collaborated with John Cale, Ludus, Eric Random, Suns of Arqa, Band of Holy Jo and Low Bias. He is a member of avant-rock legends Pere Ubu and duo Roshi featuring Pars Radio.

Today, we’re thrilled to world premiere the video for Prophane’s Dark Angeline Mix of “Eskil,” a selection from 2020’s The Great North Wood album, directed by Dan @ Discordance.

As an onslaught of colors, shapes and images fill the screen, the uptempo iteration of “Eskil” crafted by French DJ/producer Prophane spews some serious boom bap on his first commercially released remix. The Frenchman juxtaposes big, hulking beats with ravey synth melodies and IDM swagger that call to mind classic ’90s productions for the dance floor.
