Premiere: Haioka – ‘From Ash Hill’ LP

Haioka

When legendary hip-hop DJ/producer DJ Krush performed traditional Japanese court music known as gagaku at last year’s Red Bull Music Academy Tokyo, little did the turntable icon know that one of the Academy’s attendees, the Tokyo-based Japanese electronic music producer Shintaro Haioka, was working along similar creative lines.

Like Krush, Haioka sees endless musical possibilities in fusing contemporary sounds — synths, drum machines and vocals) with traditional Japanese instrumentation. The result of his exploits can be heard on his elegant full-length debut, From Ash Hill, which finds the Red Bull Music Academy alum blending a variety of sounds and sonic textures.

Haioka’s full-length arrives after a series of EPs for the forward-thinking Berlin-based label Emerald & Doreen, and it’s certainly not one to miss.

Listen to the exclusive world premiere of From Ash Hill in its entirety below.

Haioka’s From Ash Hill is released May 29 on Emerald & Doreen.

Premiere: Sven Tasnadi – “Clocks”

Sven Tasnadi

For nearly a decade Leipzig, Germany-based DJ/producer Sven Tasnadi has infused subtle nuances to his flawless tech-house productions. During this time he’s released tracks on Cocoon Recordings, Smallville Records and Poker Flat Recordings, and has remixed for artists including Steve Bug, Johannes Heil, Anja Schneider and Acumen.

Tasnadi’s diligence for his craft informs his upcoming second album, All In, where he takes his sound to captivating new level.

We’re extremely pleased to world premiere “Clocks,” one of our favorite tracks on All In.

Clocking in a little over seven minutes, the track wields top-notch percussion (production geeks: his hi-hats are to die for), a booming b-line and a peak-hour 4/4 groove.

Listen to the premiere of “Clocks” below and get ready to move your waistline to Tasnadi’s funky bassline.

Sven Tasnadi’s All In is released May 27 on Moon Harbour. Catch him at Distillery in Leipzig, Germany, on May 30 and 15 Years Of Moon Harbour Showcase at Pacha Barcelona on June 19.

Premiere: Deas – ‘Space’ EP

deas

Manchester’s Bush Records continues to stay true to techno since it launched in 1993, focusing single-mindedly on artistry while ignoring fleeting musical fads and trends. With a vast catalogue overflowing with releases by Dave Clark, Timo Maas, Alan Fitzpatrick and too many other talented technologists to mention, Bush is currently fostering the career of rising Polish DJ/producer Deas, who we’ve followed since he released his Helix EP with 2PM on his Secret Room imprint last year.

After the release of his B12 EP earlier in the year on Bush, Deas is back with the hard-hitting three-track Space EP for the mighty label which we’re excited to world premiere.

Brimming with three brilliant tracks — the deep and sinister groove monster “Space,” the acid-house glee of “Dark River” and the unabashed floor rocker “Fringe” — Deas meticulously tailors each bespoke excursion for big, dark clubs with booming sound systems.

Listen to the full EP below, and be sure to pick it up today on Beatport.
