Premiere: Woody McBride – “Late Night”

Midwest legend Woody McBride (a.k.a. DJ ESP) has been knee-deep in techno since the ‘90s, throwing underground parties, producing music for a range of labels including Bush, Plus 8, Ovum Recordings and Skint, and doing his share to push the genre forward in America. Later this month the Minnesota-based marauder will present his three-track All Night EP on Josh Garrett’s Vancouver, BC-based techno label Subspec Music, which follows a pair of prior remixes McBride did for the imprint. We’re pleased to world premiere the opening cut “Late Night,” a deep tech-house effort that you’ll want to wrap your arms around and hug. Like all groovy, moody music intended to be played after-hours, this track simmers on a slow and oh-so-patient rolling boil.

Woody McBride’s All Night EP is released July 27, 2015, on Subspec Music.

Premiere: Ruth Koleva – ‘Rhythm Slave’ LP

After releasing her acclaimed full-length Ruth in 2014, Bulgarian R&B/soul songstress Ruth Koleva has collected a selection of choice remixes and packaged them into a tidy offering dubbed Rhythm Slave. The upcoming compendium features interpretations of her tracks crafted by notable downtempo beatmasters including Eric Lau, Mark de Clive-Lowe, Kaidi Tatham, Positive Flow, Opolopo, Maddskinky (Zed Bias) and Soulization. Take an exclusive first listen to the world premiere of the remix album, which features two brand new original songs (“Tuk S Teb” and “Breaktaking Moment”), and be sure to pick up Rhythm Slave when it’s released on July 27.

Munich-based DJ/producer Lino Rodrigues, who operates under the Alkalino moniker, just dropped his debut EP on Leonardo Abbate’s newly launched Los Angeles-based Bonanza Records. The veteran Lisbon bred artist with over two decades in the game strikes hard with a one-two punch consisting of a pair of fiery house tracks, “Bug Slack” and “Rated X.”

We’re pleased to world premiere “Bug Slack,” a sinewy groover from the EP that demands your undivided attention. Worth noting is that later this year the EP will be followed by a set of remixes by Severino (Horse Meat Disco/Hot Creations) and HandZoff (a.k.a. Glovibes). Stay tuned!

Last year we introduced you to Rotterdam electro-techno club night and record label Herr Zimmerman. Founded by underground champion Fraulein Z, Herr Zimmerman is all about serving up pumping electro grooves and industrial strength beats. Next month the imprint will present Techno Hits from Space!, a five-track EP boasting diverse selections by John Treshold, AudioWitch, Dano C and DJ Gotcha.

To whet your musical appetite, we’re pleased to world premiere Dutch duo Shambok‘s “TechnoNine” from the upcoming release. A balls to the wall affair, the pair’s electro-charged track mows down everything in its path and takes no prisoners. Get a first listen below.
