Premiere: Simon Shaw – “Shades Of Red”

simon shaw

Simon Shaw’s 2015 one-two punch known as “Bonbon”/”Extraterrestrial” released on Kruse & Nuernberg’s Save Room Recordings were deep, dark gems that left us wanting more, more, more. The rising London house/techno producer, who serves as an A&R assistant at Defected, returns in a big way with house scorcher “Shades Of Red” which we’re elated to world premiere. Replete with spoken-word vocals of a woman talking about drugs in the club and rave scene over a deliciously techy groove, Shaw’s sampladelic outing sounds like what would’ve happened had The Orb intended “Little Fluffy Clouds” for peak-time dance floor consumption instead of the ambient room. Hit the play button below and listen to your next big-room favorite out March 20 on Lauter Unfug Musik.

Video Premiere: Ulli Bomans – “Screensaver”

Ulli-Bomans

Producer/visual artist Ulli Bomans, who also records as Schieres and works with T.Raumschmiere on Shrubbn!!, continues his sonic explorations on his second album, Sort By Dragging, for Berlin-based Shitkatapult. While most electronic music focuses on hedonism and instant gratification, Bomans boldly navigates his music through a gloomy crevasse where many of his peers would fear to tread. We’re pleased to world premiere the music video for “Screensaver” — a haunting, beautiful track on Sort By Dragging — directed by Bowmans. He uses the clip to express his feelings about the deepening refugee crisis in Europe.

“Day after day we get news about people that lose their lives when trying to come to Europe by crossing the Mediterranean sea,” Bowmans tells us. “This bothers me and somehow I feel helpless about it though it happens so far away from my life here. I feel really uncomfortable sitting in my comfortable environment whilst others die on their way to what should lead them to our side and finally to a saver and better life. Sometimes it’s hard to find suitable words if you want to talk as an artist about things that touch you. ‘Screensaver’ is an attempt to picture this situation.”

Premiere: Harvey Miller feat. Ray Rush & Murphy Lee – “Live Your Life”

HarveyMiller_LiveYourLife

Los Angeles DJ/producer Harvey Miller (a.k.a. DJ Speedy) has worked with numerous A-List artists, including OutKast, Waka Flocka, Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Young Jeezy. While he has a knack for working with mega-stars, he’s no slouch when it comes to crafting party-perfect music for the dance floor. Miller flaunts his ability to craft a wicked house track with a bad-ass bassline and dreamy synths on his new effort, “Live Your Life,” which we’re excited to world premiere. The track features MC extraordinaire Murphy Lee from St. Lunatics, vocals by Ray Rush and a message that can’t be denied.
