How was 2019 for you?
Avision: Overall, it was a great year. I had a nice run of touring, releases, and I’ve accomplished a lot of goals I had set for my career.
Highlights?
For releases, I had a track come out on Drumcode; my first vinyl release on Ben Sims’ label Hardgroove; a follow-up EP on We Are The Brave, and launched EI8HT (Eats Everything & Andres Campo’s label) with my EP. For events, I played some cool festivals in Spain with Paco Osuna & Mindshake, Dockyard Festival at ADE, Time Warp NYC, and a bunch of gigs at Miami Music Week.
Lowlights?
Overall, it was a great year, so I can’t think of any lowlights. Although I wish I could lose 10 pounds. LOL.
Song of the year?
Every single festival I went to I heard “The Yardman” by SRVD, and I’m still hearing it out now.
What’s your New Year’s resolution?
To have an even better year than 2019.

How was 2019 for you?
DJ Lady D: One of my most productive yet in terms of community engagement, philanthropy and leadership. I felt connected to the creative scene here in Chicago and at large.
Highlights?
I produced some remixes – one for the artist Randall Dean that will be released in 2020 – played some great house events, including San Diego’s Sunday Bliss and Chicago’s West Fest. Finally, I was included in an amazing feature in i-D/Vice on Chicago’s next wave of women DJs. [It’s now] more about inspiring others, since next year will be my 25th anniversary of DJing.
Lowlights?
All was on the positive side, keeping my head up.
Song of the year?

What’s your New Year’s resolution?
To cross off some bucket list items in 2020, including an album with old and new tracks and a retrospective of 25 years of service.
How was 2019 for you?
Fernanda Martins: What can I say, it was a fantastic year for me, but it was also an intense one. I’ve been on the road nonstop, and I had the pleasure to play in many different countries all around the globe. Not only did I get to know many exciting cultures, but also friendly and wonderful people wherever I was, from Japan to Chile.
Highlights?
One of the outstanding moments was my live set in Chile in a very special location, the Museo Nacional Bellas Artes. I loved to play there and hang out with the people I met in that trip. It was also a special moment of the year to see my Imprint Devotion Records next to labels such Ostgut, Cocoon and Get Physical in the most charted label worldwide on Resident Advisor. It means we are driving the label in the right way.
Lowlights?
It’s not part of my career, but it’s a point that has really occupied me this year and certainly had a big impact on all of us. The big fires in the Amazon rainforest, as well as in Australia, or in many countries all over Africa. And as I write these lines, large areas of the rainforest are still burning. Actually, all economic, political, social and environmental issues had me very worried during all the year.

What’s your New Year’s resolution?
To be honest, I haven’t made New Year’s resolutions for some time now. I try to approach things in my life daily; and I focus in my “life goals resolution.” It helps me to focus in my main goal that is to do what I love with freedom, tranquility, joy and fun!
I expect to visit and play in the USA very soon! We are already working on it and if everything goes right, I’m going to see you guys still in the first semester of the upcoming year. I wish you all a marvelous 2020.

How was 2019 for you?
Horsemen: Pretty wild to be honest. It was a big year with ups and downs. A proper emotional rollercoaster as well but finally getting back in the groove. Music is what keeps us going. Being creative, helping our friends and moving forward together. 2019 has shown to a year of ageing as in becoming more mature as musicians but also as people!
Highlights?
Premiere of our track “Voltaire” on EELF, two ADE gigs with Friends with Benefits events. One at X BANK and one with DISCO//VERY on the Pollux Pacific. Our gig at Montreux Jazz Festival with Apér’House head Honcho Dimsum, which most certainly had the most amazing crowd ever. Also our summer, playing at DISCO//VERY in Berlin at the IPSE – this was a special experience filled with family vibes among friends. This of course also meant meeting so many cool and interesting people along the way. Lots of collaborations in the studio as well which is always fun and inspiring.
Lowlights?
Well, we shall not go into detail but I think our records speak for themselves as in how we feel from time to time. Depressed thoughts are no stranger to us. Also our challenge of being apart from another and staying a strong duo. Our music is our language and thankfully we keep on resonating with our productions and our friendship. Most of the records being released were made when we both lived in Berlin. Now that Morrison is back in Amsterdam, we do really have to come up with good work methods to keep the level and also to grow and do better. Most important thing is that we have fun. Horsemen is about doing something cool and doing some music to forget the time and express our feelings.
Song of the year?
OMG so hard. Even though this was not released in 2019, this track gets played in almost every set and is just the all-around perfect house track.
What’s your New Year’s resolution?
Hopefully more fun gigs to play out and stronger records on our label. We are also moving away from the lo-fi sound a bit and we are more into club focussed tracks. Grooves, strong basslines, proper vibes and, of course, some special Horsemen sauce on top.
