2018 Rewind: Alex Attias

Alex Attias

How was 2018 for you?

Alex Attias: A good year musically in terms of connections and production. I also managed to make more music for my labels, Visions Recordings/LillyGood Party, which is great and feels great. It was a great year also to buy records with so many good new releases and reissues. The quality was amazing, and I think it will continue in 2019. On a personal level 2018 was a challenging year, and I love the challenges so I’m very grateful to be able to question myself and each day learn and live in the moment.

Highlights?

The release of a compilation on BBE. I’m very happy with this album and also the DJ gigs I had were great so I feel blessed. Personal and musical highlight is also a gathering I do with friends called WATEVA. We get together at one of our places, listening and sharing each other’s vinyl records in any style around a great meal and some amazing wines.

Lowlights?

Loss of friends, the rise of extremists in the world. The world in general going mad, especially in politics.

Song of the year?

Josh Milan – I Will Wait (Honeycomb Vocal Mix)

What’s your New Year’s resolution?

I’m not into resolutions to be frank. I’m trying to live in the present. I will continue to be consistent, positive, benevolent and breathe deep with a smile.

2018 Rewind: Marcel Vogel

Marcel Vogel

How was 2018 for you?

Marcel Vogel: 2018 was my busiest year so far. Besides releasing six records on Lumberjacks in Hell, Oye, and Tusk Wax, I married and became a father. On top of that I released the Sound of Lumberjacks in Hell compilation on legendary BBE Music. I also did a month-long Australia tour.

Highlights?

Becoming a father and getting married. BBE compilation.

Lowlights?

I don’t tend to get sour about things but always try to look up. Hard to think of lowlights right now.

Song of the year?

Love Drop – Burning in the Heat

What’s your New Year’s resolution?

To be more focussed, work harder toward my goals, make more music, make better music, put out more and better music.

2018 Rewind: Ascorbite

Ascorbite

How was 2018 for you?

Ascorbite: One big experimental studio session, really. Spent most days working and
exploring new ways to be creative, riding on the creative wave that has been rather present this past year.

Highlights?

Definitely the making of my album which is set for [release in] the beginning of 2019, but also getting picked up by Order Odonata, a new booking agency run by DJ/producer 14anger.

Lowlights?

Not really any lowlights, actually. Just the regular ups and downs.

Song of the year?

It’s impossible to only name one as there have been so much good music coming out this year.
The new Pls.Uk release by Lars Huismann, A Birth Defect’s Motions Of The Decade EP on Elements, and Mickey Nox’s new EP on OBSCUUR are a few candidates.

What’s your New Year’s resolution?

No resolutions made. Can’t stick to them even if I tried.
