When two companies unite — at least in this particular context — it often spells good news for the artists involved in both ends of the deal. Often, it’s the artists who get screwed when two corporate entities come together, and it’s only a truly profitable venture for the bean-counters. In the case of the merger between SKAM Artist and At Large Entertainment, however, it seems to be a win-win proposition. For the SKAM Artist booking agency, DJs are their lifeblood, and it’s the company’s business to keep those artists’ careers on track. SKAM’s EDM Division includes Bad Boy Bill, Taryn Manning, Jump Smokers, Richard Vission and Panic City, to name just a few.
Meanwhile, At Large Entertainment is known for representing the likes of Dave Audé, DJs From Mars, Micro and more. At Large founder Michelle Levy has been named by SKAM head honcho Sujit Kundu as SKAM EDM’s new Executive Director. Besides her clients, Levy brings a lot of years of experience along with her, and both companies clearly expect to shoot higher than ever before.
“I have always admired the work that Sujit — along with the rest of the SKAM Artist team — has done for his clients,” says Levy. “Now that I will be heading up the ever-expanding EDM department, I could not be more thrilled…the future is looking brighter than I could have imagined!”
Alliances of this sort aren’t new to dance music. This year The Windish Agency inked a joint venture with booking firm Paradigm Talent, a similar arrangement the company made in 2012 with AM Only.
