Premiere: Zavala – Protection Cloak

Zavala Fantasmas Fake Four Inc

Chicago-based producer Alexander Zavala draws from the lessons he’s learned studying vintage hip-hop and house. Fifteen years of studio work and time spent as half of Windy City alt hip-hop duo Dark Time Sunshine informs a layered sound that wraps its arms around broken beat, footwork and UK Garage. Though he isn’t a prolific producer, his prowess can be heard on select solo releases as well as remixes he’s done for Aesop Rock, Busdriver and Sister Crayon. Zavala’s career takes a giant leap forward on January 13, 2017 when he releases Fantasmas (Fake Four Inc.), a full-length album that articulates his spellbinding leftfield style. We’re thrilled to world premiere the dually moody and euphoric “Protection Cloak,” a track Zavala describes as “basically a healing mechanism for the ills of humanity made on a melting Juno 106.”
