German producer Timm Ewest (a.k.a. Spec.) is such a diehard fan of Mobb Deep’s classic second album The Infamous (“Shook Ones” is one of the best rap songs from the ’90s) that he somehow got his hands on the samples Havoc used on the seminal 1995 release. That’s why the legendary Queensbridge duo’s rhymes and beats are peppered throughout Ewest’s magnificent upcoming album, The Infamous Album, set for release on November 30 via his own Infamous Tracks label. We’re pleased to world premiere “The Realness,” a raw, hard-hitting tech-house cut that’s truly something to behold, and an intro video clip featuring Ewest wrapped up in a straitjacket. Here’s hoping Ewest’s musical ingenuity inspires other contemporary electronic music producers to draw influence from the golden age of hip-hop.
