Simon Shaw’s 2015 one-two punch known as “Bonbon”/”Extraterrestrial” released on Kruse & Nuernberg’s Save Room Recordings were deep, dark gems that left us wanting more, more, more. The rising London house/techno producer, who serves as an A&R assistant at Defected, returns in a big way with house scorcher “Shades Of Red” which we’re elated to world premiere. Replete with spoken-word vocals of a woman talking about drugs in the club and rave scene over a deliciously techy groove, Shaw’s sampladelic outing sounds like what would’ve happened had The Orb intended “Little Fluffy Clouds” for peak-time dance floor consumption instead of the ambient room.
