Sidney Charles’ 5 Tracks of the Moment

Fresh from releasing his House Lessons album on Santé’s Avotre label earlier in the year, featuring remixes and collaborations with artists including Darius Syrossian, Pan-Pot, Hot Since 82, Patrick Topping and more, German DJ/producer Sidney Charles continues his upward ascent on the global dance-music stage.

Before embarking on a series of gigs this month in Paris, Madrid and Dublin — Charles is also a co-resident along with Darius Syrossian and Santé at new Ibiza party Do Not Sleep Ibiza — we checked in with the Berlin house hero and asked him to weigh in on the five tracks currently rocking his world.

1. Martin Bellomo, P. Lopez & Marco Antonio – “Violencia de las Esferas”
This one picks you up from the first minute. Lovely playful vocal cutting and deep pads play with each other, giving this track a great dynamic. The bassline and drumming pumps up very well, and you can play it in house as well as techno sets.

2. Mr. G – “Crab Jerk”
I am a big of Mr. G and his productions. This one is really hard to not play for me in every set. The vocal shouts create an atmosphere that catches people’s attention very well.

3. Solimano – “Factor H” (Solimano Tool Remix)
I love the drum sampling. It has a real jackin’ vibe and it sounds like it was created in the late ’90s.

4. D’Julz – “I Say”
I like the simplicity here. It’s nice and bouncy, creating a good energy and it gives you lots of space to play around.

5. Vince Watson – “Calypto”
My favorite closing track at the moment. It’s happy, soulful and has nice dynamics.
