Phil Weeks’ 5 Artists of the Moment on SoundCloud

Phil Weeks

Trends come and go, but Paris-based DJ/producer Phil Weeks has remained true to the house that Jack built. Over the past decade he’s refined his deep, soulful productions through choice releases for 2020Vision, Music For Freaks, Brique Rouge, Detour, Adult Only and his own Robsoul label. Next month Weeks will drop “Searching4Love,” a sultry collaboration with fellow Parisian Ladybird, on his Robsoul label. You can bet that their jam will be heating up Ibiza this season, where Weeks will be holding down a residency with Magna Carta at Sankeys beginning June 7. Here the esteemed mixmaster shares his five six favorite artists of the moment on SoundCloud.

Phil Weeks feat. Ladybird’s “Searching4Love” will be released June 13 on Robsoul.

1. Joss Moog
One of my best friends and also one of the best house heads around. I’ve been rocking all of his productions since day one and signed most of them on my label, Robsoul. As a DJ, he’s rocking it hard too. If you check one of his sets, you will hear that he’s reediting most of the track he’s playing, so you get something fresh and unique.

2. Greg Wilson
What to say about Greg except that he’s been around over 20 years, playing the best of funk, soul, disco, electro-funk. He’s very active on his page and shares a lot of his knowledge with his followers. It’s a perfect page to find some inspiration and samples. You need this one if you don’t know it yet.

3. Mark Farina
Also a good friend, Mark is a complete artist. His Mushroom Jazz series are essentials worldwide, playing some of the best hip-hop, instrumentals and downtempo grooves. He’s also one of the best house DJs out there, always working on his music, pushing and helping the new generation. Check his page, you’ll enjoy everything.

4. Stones Throw
One of my favorite labels ever, releasing music from J Dilla, Madlib, Karriem Riggins, Jonwayne and so much more. That’s the music I listen to for my own pleasure in my car. ESSENTIAL from Los Angeles.

5. Mahogani Music
Need some Detroit Strong in there. Been loving everything Moodymann and his crew are doing, playing a lot of them, very close to my music also. I like also they’re keeping on pushing for J Dilla memory, which is my favorite artist/inspiration worldwide. The art of sampling!

Bonus!

6. Derrick Carter
Derrick Carter was one of my biggest inspirations when it comes to about house music. He’s been here for 20 years and is still rocking it hard. Mastering DJ skills like no one, he’s representing Chicago at its best. He also does disco now.
