Video Premiere: Gargarin – Eskil

Gargarin - Eskil

With everything going on in the world right now, the timing couldn’t better for a new album from Gargarin, an ambient-dance project helmed by Graham “Dids” Dowdall.

A veteran musician who played with Nico in the ’80s, Dowdall, who is currently a member of avant-rock legends Peru Ubu and duo Roshi featuring Pars Radio, has collaborated and performed with John Cale, Ludus, Eric Random, Suns of Arqa, Band of Holy Jo and Low Bias.

Dowdall’s undeniable knack for crafting heartfelt electronica tracks rises to the next level on his brand-new full-length album, The Great North Wood (Geo Records).

The album’s title is a reference to the ancient forest of South London as well as “more mythical notions of the forest as a place of healing, safety, mystery and threat.”

We’re thrilled to world premiere the visually soothing video for “Eskil” from the new long-player. It’s exactly the sort of blissed-out, moody electronica we so desperately need right now.

Video Premiere: Sons of the Sun – Underwater Dreaming

Sons-of-the-Sun

While everyone’s talking about the sudden rise of virtual work due to the COVID-19 pandemic, transatlantic R&B, soul, jazz and hip-hop duo Sons of the Sun have been well-steeped in it for some time now.

In fact, the duo — American singer-songwriter JTronius and British producer Maverick Quest — have been collaborating virtually between Texas and South London ever since they met at on the music-tech networking app Brapp. The duo has never met in-person.

We’re pleased to world premiere the music video for the pair’s gloriously soulful debut single, “Underwater Dreaming,” directed by Nathalie Gordon.

The single — which features Philadelphia axeman Dai Miyazaki on guitar, horns from Scottish group The Brass Cats and bass from Reginald Payne (a.k.a. Bass Negusis) — is out September 25, 2020. The song culled from their forthcoming self-titled album on BBE Music.

As SotS’s head-nodder unfurls, the video depicts the day in the life of a couple in love. Those scenes are interspersed with cutaways of water lapping onto the shore of a beach and assorted nature eye candy that’ll make you long for summer.

Spekt1 feat. Prime Perf - Loose Leaf music video premiere

West Coast bass music producer Spekt1 is about to present his Flowery Combat EP via his We Got This label on September 14. Ahead of the EP’s release, we’re pleased to world premiere the music video for “Loose Leaf” featuring Prime Perf that was produced by SPEKt1 and We Go This Music.

Over a musical backdrop melding elements of trap, grime and hyphy, Prime Perf confidently spits his musical truth. In the slickly directed clip filmed at The Embarcadero in San Francisco, Spekt1 and Prime Perf are joined by a quarter of dancers who can pop and lock with the best of them.

Video Premiere: V feat. Yameen Allworld – Into The Light

V-Into-The-Light-BBE

New Jersey-bred singer/songwriter Valvin “V” Roane has been making waves in neo-soul and R&B for some time now. Over the years, he’s collaborated with artists including Masters at Work, Jill Scott, Common and The Roots, to name but a few. Plus, he’s toured extensively and has performed on an array of popular TV shows.

V lets his silky voice soar on the smooth, soulful cut “Into The Light” feat. Yameen Allworld. The song — culled from Image A Nation (BBE) out in early September 2020 — will be released tomorrow as a single. Leveraging an uncomplicated acoustic guitar part, crisp drums and keyboards, it’s the simple, uplifting song we need right now.

We’re thrilled to world premiere the music video for “Into The Light” filmed and directed by Harold Russell. Hit the play button below and enjoy these easygoing vibes. And as V so rightly sings, “Don’t get left in the dark.”
