Two people died and 19 others were hospitalized on Thursday during the Mansfield, MA stop of roving U.S. electronic summer music tour IDentity Festival held at the Comcast Center featuring Eric Prydz, Paul van Dyk and Wolfgang Gartner. According to police, a 19-year-old man from Acton, MA and a 27-year-old man from Syracuse, NY, died after overdosing on drugs and alcohol. Authorities reported 45 arrests for drug possession, underage drinking, assault and battery and possessing fake IDs. The tour moved onto Bristow, VA on Friday, and so far no reports of arrests or deaths have been made public. Identity Festival hits Jones Beach in Wantagh, NY today.
Crate digger/beat master extraordinaire DJ Shadow (a.k.a. Josh Davis) is releasing a best-of compilation featuring highlights from his lengthy career. Due out on September 3, Reconstructed: The Best Of DJ Shadow will include 16 tracks including collaborations with Little Dragon, Richard Ashcroft, Terry Reid and Chris James. Reconstructed… will contain two previously unreleased tracks, “Listen” and “Won’t You Be.”
Given Shadow’s passion for all things vinyl, he will be offering a box set, designed by Trevor Jackson, limited to 500 copies worldwide. The man himself will personally sign each set which will include 8 discs, 1 x 12″ vinyl record, as well as a booklet, featuring an essay by music writer Dave Tompkins, and an array of images by notable photographer B+. The box set will be available via Shadow’s website.
The best-of release comes after Shadow’s most recent studio album, 2011’s The Less You Know, the Better. You can catch Shadow on tour this summer and into the fall. Check his extensive list of upcoming tour dates here.

Movement took over Detroit over during the three-day Memorial Day weekend and registered its highest attendance since becoming a ticketed event in 2005. A total of 107,343 electronic music fans attended the annual festival produced by Paxahau. A who’s who of techno and house performed, including a co-headlining set from Public Enemy.
Can U Feel It-The UMF Experience will debut in over 500 theaters for one-night only across America on March 22. The film documents Ultra Music Festival 2011 and was shot in HD.
