Premiere: Luka Sambe & Filter Bear – Birds Of The Ravine (Filter Bear Remix)

Luka Sambe & Filter Bear

UK-based electronica artist Nick Tripswitch Brennan launched onedotsixtwo, a sub-label of his eclectic Section Records, last year. From the get-go he delivered In At The Deep End, a 23-track two-disc compendium featuring tracks from a fine selection of like-minded musical spirits, and hasn’t looked back.

After recently issuing “Voight Kampff” with Nick Warren, Brennan’s imprint is set to unveil Luka Sambe & Filter Bear‘s “Birds Of The Ravine.” The cut is a wonderful collaborative track from a pair of up-and-coming Aussie producers who happen to be childhood friends.

In addition to the track’s original version, both producers offer their own take on the prog-house track. We’re extremely pleased to world premiere Filter Bear’s evocative remix that’s overflowing with melody and soul.

“This remix was a bit of a challenge, as my personal style is already quite melodic,” says Filter Bear. “In this case the original already had a highly emotive theme, so I set out to slow things down to a more granular and ‘lazy’ level, really maximizing the existing beauty of the original elements. I wanted to create a fresh interpretation of the groove by adding a new bassline, giving the track some energy and drama at the low end to compliment the booming chords and numerous melodies at the top.”

Premiere: The Sushi Club – Kuro

The Sushi Club Syma EP

Veteran electronic music producer Tomio Tremmel’s The Sushi Club is a longstanding vehicle that allows him to explore ambient and downtempo music. With over two decades of experience crafting soundscapes to his credit, the Heidelberg, Germany-born artist slowly eases himself into the realm of deep house on two of the three tracks on his upcoming Syma EP.

We’re extremely pleased to world premiere the chilled gem “Kuro” from Tremmel’s new collection. It’s a meandering, hypnotic cut comprised with a pulsating beat, squelchy bass, melodic synth lines and atmospheric vibe. Pure magic, if you ask us.

Premiere: North Sea Navigator’s “The Rend” Remixed by TAO Is Something For Your Mind, Body & Soul

North Sea Navigator

Former Gravenhurst guitarist/artist/composer/producer Paul Nash will unveil his debut solo album, The Memory Clears the Space for What’s Needed (Blurred Recordings), crafted under his North Sea Navigator moniker, on April 13.

The Bristol-based Nash’s full-length features guest vocalists Nadine Gingell (pka Lady Nade) and Jo Mary Butler, as well as guest spoken-word artist/actor Joe Shire.

Lead track “The Rend” has received the remix treatment from a trio of underground remixers, and we’re pleased to world premiere TAO’s sparse, heartfelt downtempo interpretation. TAO use the song’s earnest vocals, gruff spoken-word hook and shimmering guitar lines and ever-so-gently juxtapose it with delicate boom bap for winning results.

“Despite loving the original, I wanted to merge it with my hip-hop background and throw some guitar on it,” says TAO. “This remix is what surfaced. Big thanks to Steve, Matt and Louis from Blurred Recordings for releasing it and a massive thanks to Paul Nash (North Sea Navigator) for creating the original and letting us remix it!”

Premiere: Listen to Minutes Unlimited’s ‘Making Contact’ EP Produced by Michna & Eliot Lipp During Historic East Coast Bomb Cyclone Winter Storm

Minutes Unlimited

Old Man Winter really kicked New York City’s butt this year. Four nor’easters in three weeks brought snow and arctic cold, knocked out power and closed airports and schools. Big Apple residents were sent scrambling for bread, milk and beer at Trader Joe’s and local bodegas throughout the five boroughs.

Instead of taking a snow day during January’s Bomb Cyclone, an epic storm that wreaked havoc on the East Coast, kindred musical spirits Michna and Eliot Lipp hunkered down in the lab and casually laid down a soundscape of minimal tracks on tape with synths and beats. Not too long after the snow melted the pair had completed the Making Contact EP, a gloriously satisfying instrumental trap record, under their Minutes Unlimited alias.

We’re thrilled to world premiere the four-track EP out tomorrow on Young Heavy Souls. Get a first listen below. Here’s hoping spring is here to stay!
