Trutopia 5 Tracks of the Moment

Trutopia

Wales-bred and currently London-based house DJ/producer duo Trutopia – brothers Ash and Kris – were doing well by all accounts before the COVID-19 pandemic reared its ugly head at the beginning of 2020.

Since taking the plunge into production several years ago, they’ve been cultivating their deep, ’90s-influenced sound on releases for labels like Strictly Rhythm, Madtech and Armada Subjekt. They’ve also worked hard in the DJ booth, taking their vibes to clubs all over the world.

Before the world went sideways Ash and Kris traveled to New York City in September 2019 at the invitation of Big Apple dance label institution Nervous Records, who’ve previously released Trutopia jams like “4 The Show” and “Can’t Let Go.” They took part in a recording session along with Germany’s Ben Delay and Lisbon’s Moullinex. The result is the four-track Brooklyn Sessions 2020 EP that dropped on April 24. The EP features two stirring contributions from the pair, “You Can Not Hold Back” feat. Koffee and the “Galesa” collab with Moullinex.

Currently in lockdown in London, we caught up with the lads and asked them to share their favorite tracks of the moment.

5 Uplifting Deep House Anthems We Need Right Now, According to Michele Chiavarini

When the chips are down, there’s no better genre to turn to than deep house to maintain one’s spirits. The style’s soulful roots, fluid grooves and simple messages never fail to elevate the mind, body and soul.

Fresh from releasing his rousing deep-house collaboration with Aaron K Gray titled “P.U.S.H. (Pray Until Something Happens)” on his recently launched SPRY Records, we asked artist/musician/producer Michele Chiavarini to share a handful of soulful tunes that are helping him get through the pandemic.
