Isaac Aesili 5 Tracks of the Moment

Isaac Aesili

In March New Zealand bred electronic soul musician/producer/DJ Isaac Aesili released Hidden Truths (Bastard Jazz), a compelling full-length espousing a bold sound bursting with strains of R&B, house, jazz and funk. Known for his skills as a trumpet player and percussionist, it’s no surprise that Aesili packs the album with captivating melodies and exhilarating grooves.

With much of the world currently on lockdown, Aesili, who is currently based in Bangkok, shares five tracks that are stirring his soul during this time of self-isolation and uncertainty.

Alice Coltrane – Journey in Satchidananda

This song tells me it’s time to press pause. The bassline is grounding, the harp gives me a sense of the mystical and the flute sings a soothing melodic narrative.

Lonnie Liston Smith – A Garden of Peace

This song gives me a sense of the depth of the human heart and our potential for peace despite the illusions of chaos and distractions that surround us.

Sabrina Claudio – Stand Still

This is the reset song that brings me back to my center. The introduction shifts my focus inwards, the beat sets a new tempo for my thoughts and Sabrina’s sublime vocals gives me a sense of music’s timeless dimensions.

We are KING – Hey

This song brings me light and tells me to let go and just flow.

Prince – Sign of the Times

Prince is one of my favorite artists and in this song he takes on prophetic properties. Every few years this song comes back to me to remind me to take note of the times we are living in and meditate to sync with the frequencies that resonate in my soul.
