Video Premiere: LZ7 – G.O.A.T. (Live Session)

LZ7 G.O.A.T.

Manchester-based outfit LZ7 is getting ready to unveil a selection of videos of live performances. We’re pleased to world premiere their rousing rendition of their recently issued single “G.O.A.T.”

Where some artists have performed or spun DJ sets at home during  lockdown, LZ7 comes out swinging with a full-on stage show complete with eye-catching visuals and professional lighting.

In this video directed by Pete Wall, the band cut through “G.O.A.T.” like a hot knife through butter

Says frontman Lindz about the song:

“G.O.A.T. a.k.a. greatest of all time concept came around by throwing around a shed load of hard, grime London underground influences and thinking about how we could throw something on it that picks the energy out of the atmosphere and throws it onto the dance floor. It is one of those infectious bangers that you cannot stand still to and at the same time the lyrics in the song speak for themselves about raising our purpose and dreams. If someone has ever said that you could not be the greatest of all time this song definitely smashes that statement and turns it around!”

Byron Stingily & Marshall Jefferson Restart Ten City After 25-Year Hiatus

Byron Stingily & Marshall Jefferson Ten City

Chicago deep-house trio Ten CityByron Burke, Herb Lawson and Byron Stingily — made an indelible mark on house music in the late ’80s and early ’90s with an onslaught of soulful R&B-laden singles such as “Devotion,” “That’s the Way Love Is” and “Goin’ Up in Smoke.”

After releasing four albums — 1989’s Foundation, 1990’s State of Mind, 1992’s No House Big Enough and 1994’s That Was Then, This is Now — Stingily, a prolific songwriter with a trademark falsetto, left the group. Over the trajectory of his solo career, he’s released a wealth of music for Nervous Records, including two full-length albums.

Now Stingily has partnered with Chi-town DJ/producer Marshall Jefferson, to restart Ten City with the upcoming single “Be Free.”

While not an official member of the group during its heydey, Jefferson, who was recently hospitalized with pneumonia, was involved as a producer with the triumvirate.

Stingily, who has collaborated with Danny Tenaglia, Murk and Frankie Knuckles and sang backing vocals on tracks for Mariah Carey, Beyoncé and Whitney Houston, says the song “encompasses the spirit of dance and house music! Many times people focus on our differences but ‘Be Free’ speaks to how we are more alike than different. It is a song about respecting and appreciating our differences!”

Ten City’s “Be Free” will be released via Ultra Music on January 29.

Premiere: Unified Highway – The Truth (SubDocta Remix)

The-Truth-Subdocta-Remix-Cover

Today Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were sworn into office. After four years of lies, incompetence, hatred, racism, nepotism, misinformation and 24/7 ill will from the previous president and his administration, America’s 46th president and vice president took their solemn oaths. They pledged a return to transparency, decency and to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America. The relief in the air is palpable.

“What are the common objects we as Americans love, that define us as Americans? I think we know,” said Biden during his inaugural address. “Opportunity, security, liberty, dignity, respect, honor and yes, the truth.”

As luck would have it, today we’re pleased to world premiere SubDocta’s bass-heavy remix of Unified Highway’s appropriately titled “The Truth.” The original version appears on the duo’s well-received second album, Headlines, released in 2020 on Easy Star Records.

SubDocta ups the tempo and amplifies the soulful, heartfelt ragga vibes crafted by Unified Highway — Rebelution vocalist/guitarist Eric Rachmany and DJ/producer/remixer Amp Live (formerly of Zion I) — and propels “The Truth” into the dubstep stratosphere.

As the song says, “Don’t be scared ‘cause someone told you / Use your intuition / Fear is a condition.”
