In our 2015 Rewind we asked 210 DJs to reflect on the year and look ahead. Gate Null Recordings honcho Andrea Frisina told us in the feature that his goal for 2016 is to keep improving and finish works in progress. He couldn’t begin 2016 in finer fashion than with “Glise,” a gargantuan slice of killer big-room techno. It’s a powerful cut that goes immediately for the jugular and never lets go. Before the release of “Glise” we caught up with the Rome-based DJ/producer/label mogul and asked him to share five songs he’s living for right now. Want to guess which track is number one on his list?
Andrea Frisina’s “Glise” is out February 8 on Gate Null Recordings.
1. Andrea Frisina – “Glise” (Original Mix) (Gate Null Recordings)
This is my next release, and I’m proud of it. I’m also glad about the hot support from the industry—it shows my proper dark techno mood and all my features.
2. Mark Greene – “Tripod” (Spektre Remix) (Gate Null Recordings)
It’s a masterpiece, I can’t say more to describe this one. During ADE it was played by everybody and it was not released yet!
3. Alan Fitzpatrick – “Eternia” (Original Mix) (Drumcode)
I think this track really rocks. I’m a big fan of dark techno melodies rooted in trippy voices!
4. Joe Mesmar – “Sinister Minds” (Original Mix) (Gate Null Recordings)
This track comes from the Montreal-based talent Joe Mesmar. I think it’s a very nice track, featuring dark elements, trippy voices, stabs and refined grooves. Definitely he landed with a very interesting EP.
5. Kellerkind – “Destiny” (Original Mix) (Stil Vor Talent)
It’s a bit far from what I can play my sets, but I really love the melody and the feeling that this track carries on.
