Sad news to report: Philadelphia’s music community is mourning the passing of local drum ‘n’ bass DJ Tom Seraph (a.k.a. Thomas J. Hugues III). Seraph, 33, died unexpectedly on October 23.
Seraph began DJing in 1996 and played out all over Philly, sharing the bill over the years with an array of genre stalwarts including Andy C, Chase & Status, Goldie, Subfocus, Dieselboy, DJ SS, Shy FX, Dillinja, Doc Scott, Fabio, Dylan and J Majik. He played parties such as Bedlam at the now defunct Fluid Nightclub and was one of the original founding members of Defcon, an artist management and talent booking organization for DJs and producers. He was also affiliated with events promotion group Local 13 Productions where he hosted Therapy Sessions as well as the Whistle and Bang event series.
Details about his funeral service can be found here.
