Brunch is serious business these days. While choosing the right spot is usually easy if you do a bit of research, the music you’re bound to hear during your meal will either a Sade album from the ’80s or a schlocky downtempo mix that’ll make you want to gauge your eyes out. On May 18 Brooklyn club Verboten will flip the script on the weekend ritual by offering a Sunday DJ brunch series featuring world-class DJs and big-name local mixers. Starting at 4pm and extending into the evening, the first installment will star deep-house denizens Walker & Royce and Andrew Grant. Food is under the direction of Chef Nick Grosz, and the gourmet menu will be accompanied by an array of cocktails on offer. Brunch just got a whole lot more interesting in New York City. Look for this innovative idea to be copied all over the place.
