Lane 8’s 5 Tracks of the Moment

Lane 8

Last month Lane 8 (a.k.a. Daniel Goldstein) released his superb debut album, Rise, on Anjunadeep. Included on our list of essential albums of July, the “rousing, deeply emotional” affair as we described it features oodles of deep, warm bass and a tad of glitch, setting the framework for standout collaborations with Lulu James, Patrick Baker, Solomon Grey and Matthew Dear.

With a slew of festival dates (Coachella, Bestival) under his belt and an upcoming U.S. tour in the fall on the horizon, we asked Goldstein to share his thoughts on five songs currently rocking his world.

Lane 8 plays Ilesoniq Festival in Montreal on August 14, Belsonic in Belfast on August 22 and Sun City Music Festival in El Paso, Texas on September 5. Continue Reading

John_Quivver_Graham

London bred DJ/producer John Graham has been delighting fellow DJs and clubbers alike since the early ’90s, consistently delivering choice productions and remixes under his Quivver alias. This month the L.A.-based maestro offered up his old-school flavored Takin’ Over EP for John Digweed’s Bedrock Records. Each of the three tracks finds Graham pairing warm basslines with deep, chilled grooves for maximum effect. The EP arrives only a few weeks after the release of Cold Sun, a rock/electronic album he issued via Distinctive, at the end of June. Ahead of a busy September, which will find him traipsing to clubs all across America, Graham schools us on five tracks he’s living for right now.

Quivver’s Takin’ Over EP is out now on Bedrock. The next edition of Graham’s Controlled Substance airs August 17, 2015 on Frisky Radio. Continue Reading

Currently turning heads by way of their epic 8-minute opus “1981” and 12-minute “1976” the pair, who have released tracks on Trapez, Go Deeva, Sublimnal and Kinetika, are pushing their techy house pedigree in an interesting direction. We asked the guys to share their five favorite tracks of the moment, and they naturally came through with a twist.

“They’re not necessarily the most famous tracks, some really flew under the radar and deserved to be mega hits, others are fresh and some are old, but still in our sets on and off.” Continue Reading
