Digitalism’s 5 Tracks of the Moment

Digitalism

Always ones to push the musical envelope and keep their fans guessing about their next move, Hamburg’s Digitalism — Jens “Jence” Moelle and İsmail “Isi” Tüfekçi — said hello to summer in a big way this month with their new single “Roller.” Mixed by Matt Wiggins at Paul Epworth’s Church Studios, the ferocious electro-charged track will get even the most jaded clubber amped up on the dance floor.

Ahead of a busy summer filled with DJ dates and an appearance at Lollapalooza Berlin in September where they will unveil their new live show, we caught up with the guys and asked them to talk up five of their favorite songs of the moment. Continue Reading

Kris Menace & Lifelike’s 5 Tracks of the Moment

Kris-Menace-and-Lifelike

Ten years ago dance floor demons Kris Menace and Lifelike teamed up for “Discopolis,” a sultry, synthy Ibiza anthem issued on Vulture Music. The song was later licensed by Defected and re-imagined by various remixers. For the curious, there’s an accompanying must-see music video starring model Lily Tenue directed by Seb Janiak.

The duo is back a decade later in a big way with “Ready 4 Love,” a brilliant new collaboration out June 15 on Computer Science. Like its predecessor, “Ready 4 Love” finds them doubling down on the post-Moroder sound they forged on their debut track, taking it to an even cooler further.

On the eve of the release of “Ready 4 Love,” we asked both gentlemen to talk up five tunes that are currently rocking their world. Continue Reading

ME & her’s 5 Tracks of the Moment

ME & her

Swiss misses Phuong and Jen are bringing a fresh sensibility to the dance floor. As ME & her they’ve eschewed all things commercial in favor of a quixotic blend of underground house and techno. Over the past year or so they’ve brought their DJ skills to top clubs and festivals including Sankeys Ibiza, Sisyphos in Berlin, ISF Festival and Gate Clubbing in Italy, Lightbox in London and Carpe Diem Beach in Croatia.

This month the rising duo will release their Lost EP on OFF Recordings, a three-cut affair whose sultry title track showcases Billie Fountain on vocals and flaunts a wicked remix by the Berlin-based juggernaut known as Nakadia. The instrumental “April” finds them exploring a techier sound that hints at even greater things to come.

With a tour of India and gigs across Berlin and beyond on their schedule, we caught up with the talented twosome and asked them to share their five favorite dance floor cuts of the moment.

ME & her’s Lost EP is released June 8 on OFF Recordings. On June 6 catch them at Go Deeva Showcase at Palm Beach and Clarisse Showcase at Blue Marlin in Ibiza. Continue Reading

Jack Garratt’s 5 Tracks of the Moment

Jack Garratt

London-based multi instrumentalist/songwriter Jack Garratt has come into his own in 2015. After receiving a load of attention last year for his breakthrough Remnants EP, featuring instant classic “The Love You’re Given” and brandishing a sound many reckon lies between the starkness of James Blake and the electronic soul of Jamie Woon, Garratt continues to forge ahead on his artistic journey. This month he issued the Synesthesiac EP, which will be followed up by his highly anticipated full-length album due in the fall.

Currently touring his one-man live show all over the place, the wildly talented Garratt managed to find a few moments to reflect on five of his current favorite songs.

Jack Garratt’s Synesthesiac EP is out now. Catch him at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC on May 28, DC9 in Washington, D.C. on May 29 and The Independent in San Francisco on May 30. Continue Reading
