Pioneer Premieres DJM-S9 Mixer for Serato DJ

PioneerMixer

Hey, look! Here’s a handy-looking little piece of new gear from the folks over at Pioneer. It’s the DJM-S9, and if you have trouble remembering model numbers, all you really need to know is that the thing is a two-channel mixer specially designer for Serato DJ. So, you might ask, what sets it apart from the pack? Well, the push seems to be on “personalization,” which in this context means coming up with features that can be tailored to an individual DJ’s needs.

What that idea actually translates to in terms of technique is the ability to customize the crossfader, and map the Performance Pads and FX buttons to whatever your heart desires. In addition to that, we’re looking at plug-and-play integration with all four of Serato DJ’s decks, plus on-board Beat FX, a pair of USB sound cards, and an input switcher that’s top-loaded to make life easy for ambitious users. Now for the answers to the big questions: when and how much? Well, the DJM-S9 is set to show up at the end of October, and is expected to retail for under $2K. And if you want to get really snazzy, there’s a limited-edition gold version for a bit more money. In the meantime, you can feast your eyes on more info below.
