Move over Grammys, Brit Awards and AMAs, there’s a new kid in town. You can now add The House Music Awards to the list of annual music honors that gets rolled out each year. On November 7, the first annual ceremony will be presented in L.A. at King King Hollywood. Hosted by DJ Rap, the event is the brainchild of Chicago house music originator Jesse Saunders, best known for his 1984 club classic “On and On,” who has has cooked up a whole host of awards to be handed out at the event including honors for best vocalist, producer, remixer, DJ, mix, song and many more.

But the one Saunders is most fond of is the Dance The Night Away award, which “will feature the best and most committed dancer.”

Because this won’t be one of those stuffy old sitting-around awards shows, expect a full-blown dance party, with plenty of guest performances and DJ sets in between the award presentations.

In Saunders’ own words, “It’s time to bring awards to the current state of house music, which is the parent of EDM. All the current talent needs to be recognized, not only locally, but nationally and internationally.”
