While the first day of Electric Daisy Carnival held at at Las Vegas Motor Speedway went off without a hitch — 70 DJs playing on seven stages for 150,000 people — the second night was cut short due to high winds. With winds gusting at 30 mph, event promoters Insomniac temporarily shut down the event at 1am. Attendees were ushered to safer area. After resuming the festival Mother Nature continued to not cooperate, forcing the promoters to shut the event down.
Insomniac issued the following statement: “At 2:45 a.m. Insomniac, the producer of Electric Daisy Carnival, Las Vegas, in consultation with public safety officials, made the decision that due to extremely high wind conditions, the crowd would be cleared away from the stage areas. The decision was made out of an abundance of caution and with fan safety in mind.”
While some fans were obviously disappointed that festivities were cut short, Insomniac clearly did the right thing by putting safety of their fans first and foremost.
