What does DJ Shadow now have in common with Mark Farina, Dennis Ferrer and Tommie Sunshine? They’ve all been kicked off the decks this year at U.S. clubs for not playing commercial enough music. Shadow’s public embarrassment happened on Saturday night at Mansion in Miami when his All Bases Covered DJ tour rolled into Magic City after a successful Friday night performance at Brooklyn Bowl in New York. While Shadow was in the mix he got a tap on shoulder from the night’s promoters (see raw video below) who were apparently expecting something other than the classic brand of instrumental hip-hop he’s been playing since the ’90s. Ever the class act, Shadow exited the DJ booth without incident and tweeted the following:
