Manchester electronic legends New Order will revisit their monumental debut album, Movement, produced by Martin Hannett and originally released by Factory Records in November 1981, with a robust boxed set due out on April 5. The groundbreaking album was recorded between April 24 and May 4, 1981 at Strawberry Studios in Stockport, England.
As music fans will know, New Order rose out of the ashes of pioneering post-punk band Joy Division, which dissolved after singer Ian Curtis committed suicide in May 1980. Curtis’s life was the subject of the 2007 biopic Control directed by famed photographer Anton Corbijn.
The multi-format Movement (Definitive Edition) will include the vinyl LP with its original iconic sleeve designed by Peter Saville, original album CD in replica mini album sleeve, a bonus CD of previously unreleased tracks, DVD of live shows and TV appearances, plus a hard backed book, all housed in a lift-off lid box. Four 12-inch singles “Ceremony (version 1),” “Ceremony (version 2),” “Everything’s Gone Green” and “Temptation” will be released in their original sleeves starting March 8.
The multi-format release will sell for $139.98.
