Good news! Legendary DJ/producer house music David Morales has been released without charge after he was arrested on Oct. 7 at Fukuoka Airport in Japan on suspicion of smuggling 0.3 grams of 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine, also known as ecstasy (MDMA).

Morales’ team issued the following statement: “We’re delighted to confirm that David Morales has been released without charge. David is well and has asked that we pass on his love and gratitude to all those who have shown their support. We will not be making any further comment, and request that David and his family’s privacy be respected at this time.”

Morales was visiting Japan to play Sound Museum Vision, an event in Tokyo’s Shibuya Ward, on Oct. 7. His set was canceled as a result of his arrest.

Japan has extremely strict drug laws. In 1980, Paul McCartney was imprisoned for nine days and nearly sentenced to seven years in jail for possessing half a pound of marijuana.
