The party is over at Verboten. The Williamsburg, Brooklyn nightclub was seized today by New York State Department of Taxation and Finance for nonpayment of taxes, and is now in the possession of New York State. The club’s shuttering comes after reports of unpaid taxes and wages as well as other financial issues plaguing the club. Earlier this month sixteen current and former employees accused co-owner Jen Schiffer of sexual harassment and racism. The suit alleges that the married Schiffer pressured workers into threesomes, boasted about sleeping with more customers than her husband and freaked out when too many black patrons attended a party. In documents filed in Brooklyn Federal Court the plaintiffs claim she “discusses her sex life — including her favorite sexual positions and sexual encounters with her husband, John Perez, and other women.” More on this story as it develops.
