Former Joy Division/New Order bassist Peter Hook is curating Dance In A Panic, a brand-new British style rock ‘n’ roll dance party, in Los Angeles in association with KAV and local promoter Spaceland. The monthly event is intended to transcend musical genres by inviting indie and alternative to play on bills featuring DJs and electronic acts.
The debut edition of DIAP kicks off March 11 at The Regent Theater in Los Angeles with performances by KAV, Gateway Drugs, Magic Wands, Drinking Flowers and DJ sets by TSR Airlines and Pop Noir. Beginning April 30, Hook, who is currently touring with his band The Light, will be a regular feature of the nights, inviting his friends to join him DJing live from Manchester, broadcasting the sets straight to The Regent Theater via LA’s “groundbreaking event-to-event streaming platform” Clubcast. Here’s hoping Hooky’s set is better than this infamous one.
