Former Gravenhurst guitarist/artist/composer/producer Paul Nash will unveil his debut solo album, The Memory Clears the Space for What’s Needed (Blurred Recordings), crafted under his North Sea Navigator moniker, on April 13.
The Bristol-based Nash’s full-length features guest vocalists Nadine Gingell (pka Lady Nade) and Jo Mary Butler, as well as guest spoken-word artist/actor Joe Shire.
Lead track “The Rend” has received the remix treatment from a trio of underground remixers, and we’re pleased to world premiere TAO’s sparse, heartfelt downtempo interpretation. TAO use the song’s earnest vocals, gruff spoken-word hook and shimmering guitar lines and ever-so-gently juxtapose it with delicate boom bap for winning results.
“Despite loving the original, I wanted to merge it with my hip-hop background and throw some guitar on it,” says TAO. “This remix is what surfaced. Big thanks to Steve, Matt and Louis from Blurred Recordings for releasing it and a massive thanks to Paul Nash (North Sea Navigator) for creating the original and letting us remix it!”
