2018 Rewind: Ken Ishii

Ken Ishii

How was 2018 for you?

Ken Ishii: Another productive year as a music producer. Worked with various labels for EPs and remixes and did many collaborations with other producers.

Highlights?

Among the collaborations referred above, ones with Drunken Kong, Alberto Ruiz and Van Czar, were released within the year. There is more to come next year. Also I’m happy my experimental USB drive project with a designer Yasunobu Yamashita, called KIYD, saw the light.

Being happy as a craft beer drinker. Brewed my own beer for the first time in my life as well.

Song of the year?

The title track of the album “Voodoo Magic” by Spiral Deluxe, a new band by Jeff Mills. It is great to see such a pioneer of techno keeps trying new things.

What’s your New Year’s resolution?

I have been working on a new album all through 2018 and now it’s nearly finished. I’m quite excited that I will finally release it in 2019 and it will be the first original Ken Ishii album in 13 years.
