2018 Rewind: Frankie Bones

Frankie Bones

How was 2018 for you?

Frankie Bones: It was a great year for me. My Intec Digital release “Call It Techno” did very well on Carl Cox’s imprint, and I got to play Ultra’s 20th on Carl’s Megastructure. It was awesome. I also opened for Carl in Brooklyn for Teksupport in June and went to Europe to play at Tresor in Berlin. It really felt like the ’90s for me. Then I went to the U.K. and played the 30th anniversary for Amnesia House, and I still love to get crowds going.

Highlights?

My first trip to Barcelona. I played a three-hour set at The Moog Club, and I was able to watch the full set back on YouTube. I have never actually done that before. Afterwards I thought, “Yeah, that is exactly what I do, nothing fancy, just come in, play and elevate the crowd.”

Lowlights?

We lost our beloved cat, Bandit, on September 22. The kitty was 15 years old and people don’t realize how sometimes pets can be as important as humans. They show unconditional love and are always happy to see you. You don’t realize that until they are gone.

Song of the year?

“Losing Your Mind” – Bart Skills & Adam Beyer (Drumcode). As was for most techno DJ’s, this was the track nobody could escape.

What’s your New Year’s resolution?

To make every moment count and try to be a little bit more patient with myself with everything I do. We live in a fast-paced world and sometimes you have to stop and smell the roses. And then buy a dozen for the special person in your life.
