2017 Rewind: Bradley Zero

RHYTHM SECTION BRADLEY ZERO

How was 2017 for you?
Bradley Zero: 2017 was a year of change for Rhythm Section in regards to both the night and the label. We made the transition from Rhythm Sections home in Peckham to hosting our series of nights across the capital. When approaching these new spaces, we decided to lead with bigger and bolder projects. Something exciting for us but also a scary new endeavor. On reflection our success shows how much Rhythm Section has expanded throughout its six years and how the core support remains strong but we’ve also now opened up to an even wider audience.

In regards to the label side of things, we have undertaken a variety of adventurous projects this year taking our time with each release to really develop it to its full potential. For instance our most recent record with 30/70 was completely different from many things we’ve done before with the ability to touch a lot more people. Whilst earlier on in the year we launched the sub-label international black! So I guess you could describe 2017 as the year of big moves for RS.

Highlights?
Introducing the new sister label, International Black, was definitely a massive highlight of the year. Having the power to create a faceless platform to introduce new artists and celebrated ones but also opening up the avenue to explore a wider range of music and do so more creatively.

Lowlights?
Like every year there are things that could go and went wrong, as this year has been about change we’ve had to make some new adjustments as we’ve expanded. Maybe the only small thing that could have been improved was how much it rained at Dimensions?!

Song of the year?
That’s an incredibly hard one but the newest release from Chaos in the CBD from their label In Dust We Trust — the Zona Del Silencio EP — is without doubt one of their best yet. Those guys are gonna continue to keep smashing it.

What’s your New Year’s resolution?
To make 2018 bigger and better. We’ve got an exciting schedule already locked in. So definitely keep watching this space!
