What a year it’s been for London-based house duo Tough Love. Fresh from playing DJ dates in America, Alex and Stef are riding high on the strength of “Hold On,” a buzzy deep-house collaboration with Big Apple house maestro Roger Sanchez and Culture Club frontman Boy George. The release, which is out now on their Get Twisted label, comes on the heels of their “Touch” collab with Arlissa issued in the summer and a slew of other terrific productions and remixes.
In between studio sessions, DJing and running their label, Alex and Stef told us about their five tracks of the moment. Musically informed by R&B, garage and ’90s house, we weren’t surprised by diversity on their list. Read on to find out which tracks are currently rocking their world.
1. Masch + Yuko & Roland Clark – “Talking About House”
A future classic in the making, this record has everything.
2. Rhythm Masters – “Dyna-Mite”
Every now and again you get a record that stands out in the crowd & — this is that record!
3. Cut Snake – “Boom Boom”
This track has lived in our sets all summer, and we honestly can’t see it going away. The perfect combination of a big groove, catchy vocal and tight production means this record goes off every time!
4. Leon Lour – “Control The Masses”
We first noticed Leon around 18 months ago. After remixing our track “Pony,” we wanted him on our label Get Twisted Records and this record really bangs on the dance floor.
5. Tough Love & Roger ‘S-Man’ Sanchez ft. Boy George – “Hold On”
We’ve been dropping this in our sets for the last year and it continues to grow. It was a really special moment playing this track with Roger at ADE at his Undr The Radr party.
