Ramiro Lopez’s 5 Tracks of the Moment

ramiro_lopez

Ever since Ramiro Lopez graced us with a memorable Big Shot Guest Mix last year, he’s continued to evolve as an artist. In fact, his mix arrived at an important juncture in his career as he had decided to fully embrace techno into his DJ sets and productions.

Since then the prolific Spanish DJ/producer has cut a flurry of absolutely brilliant techno-charged tracks, including his Truce EP on Carl Cox and Jon Rundell‘s Intec label and “Easy Going” on Toolroom Trax.

With his next EP dropping soon on Octopus, and gigs galore throughout the end of the year, we got a few moments with Lopez and asked him to talk up five tracks that are currently rocking his world. He was more than happy to wax poetic for us.

Ramiro Lopez plays New Basement in Wiesbaden, Germany on November 11, Wave Club inSofia, Bulgaria on November 21 and Hotel W in Barcelona on November 22.

1. Joseph Capriati – “This Then That” (Coyu Remix) (Drumcode)
I’ve been playing this remix since Coyu sent it to me time ago. Works great on the dance floor. Coyu’s “The Big Cat” + the best techno label at the moment = Pure gold.

2. Shall Ocin – “The Cliff” (Hotflush)
I’m very into Scuba’s [Hotflush] label at the moment. All of their releases are top-notch; I find them so inspiring. This is from their last release. Shall has done a great job. This [track] sounds fresh, original and powerful all at the same time.

3. Enrico Sangiuliano & Frankyeffe – “Celebration” (Break New Soil)
This is two great producers teaming up for a super techno EP on Gregor Tresher’s label. I’ve been playing a lot of releases from BNS recently, so they’re always in my bag. The whole EP is amazing, but this one is the track I’m playing the most. Italy have outstanding techno artists and these two are a perfect example.

4. Adapter – “Trinity” (Hydrozoa)
Hydrozoa is the new label from Sian, who already runs quality imprints such as Octopus and Octopus Black Label. Hydrozoa has only had two releases so far, but both have been very good. This track is amazing in my opinion, a safe bet to make the dance floor sweat.

5. Oliver Koletki – “Lyéwaye” (Loco & Jam Remix)
It’s no secret Loco & Jam are totally on fire right now. I’m playing pretty much every track they’re making at the moment. I usually play this one in my closing sets as it’s something special. Bravo Loco & Jam!
