BSTV: The Presets Rave About Heartbreak

We were instantly smitten when we heard the advance of Heartbreak‘s upcoming album on Lex Records. Apparently we’re not the only ones who are enamored with this Italo pop duo—Argentinian singer Sebastian Muravchix and British/French keyboardist Ali Renault—from the UK. Yesterday Big Shot met up with The Presets, who are in the midst of a US tour with fellow Aussies Cut Copy. The opening act? Heartbreak! In this exclusive video shot a few hours before their show at Webster Halll in New York City, The Presets’ Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes talk about how much they love Heartbreak and why anyone going to the remaining dates on their US tour should arrive early.

BSTV: Midnight Juggernauts

After a support U.S. tour with Justice exposed them to a legion of new fans, Australia’s Midnight Juggernauts are poised to become headliners in their own right. Big Shot met up with the trio from Down Under backstage at their show at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City, where they talked about this month’s mini tour of America and their debut album, Dystopia, which was recently released in the States. Guess which Juggernaut confessed about a case of mistaken identity with one of the members of Justice?

BSTV: Charles Webster

CHARLES_WEBSTER

If you like deep house, then you’ll know veteran English DJ/producer Charles Webster. A man of many musical aliases (Presence, Furry Phreaks, Love from San Francisco, Remote), his two-disc Coast2Coast compilation drops later this month. Big Shot met up with the maestro before his gig at Spiegelworld in New York City and got the lowdown on the new disc. Look for a full interview in Issue 24.

BSTV: Booka Shade

There’s a little more than four months left in 2008, but it’s safe to predict Booka Shade’s The Sun & The Neon Light will be on nearly everyone’s year-end list of best albums. Big Shot talked with Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier backstage at The Fillmore in New York City earlier this month. Walter and Arno chatted about playing huge festivals like Glastonbury and Benicàssim, and told us how touring inspired the songs on their latest album. (Oh, and they also dropped a hint about a new soundtrack project they’re itching to begin working on!)
