Track of the Moment: Memory9’s “Wuseng Dub”

memory9 sonic carpaccio EP

We’ve been following Memory9 (a.k.a. Gadi Sassoon) for a few years now (check out his Big Shot Guest Mix from 2012), and he’s continually evolved his sound with each release. Today the Milan-born dubstep/drum ‘n’ bass producer’s latest effort — his apocalyptic “Wuseng Dub” — was issued as part of the Sonic Carpaccio EP on Berlin’s Moniker Eggplant. Encompassing glitch, dub and bin-rattling beats, there are also three other worthy tracks from three artists that are worthy of your attention. Have a listen below and don’t fear the bleeper!

Track of the Moment: DJ Sneak & Murk’s “To The Bassline”

DJ Sneak & Murk - To The Bassline

Chicago meets Miami on this supremely funky union between house music legends DJ Sneak (who we all know has lived in Toronto for some time now) and Murk’s Oscar G and Ralph Falcon. Murk’s low-end theory, which dates back to early classics like 1992’s “Some Luvin’,” connects with Sneak’s skill for laying down some serious swing on a club tracks, is unquestionably a home run. The epic collaboration, which clocks in at ten minutes, is destined to be make dance floors sweat this summer, from Ibiza to points beyond. Look for its official release on April 14 via Berlin’s Exploited Records, featuring artwork by Berlin-based street artist Nomad.

Track of the Moment: Pig&Dan’s “Slash”

Pig-&-Dan

Over the trajectory of a decade-plus career that has seen them meticulously dabble in techno, tech-house and electro for labels like Soma, Cocoon, Terminal M and Bedrock, Pig&Dan have seemingly never much cared for catering to trends. So it’s only fitting that their new burner “Slash” is as gigantic of  a blazing-hot, big-room techno track that you can get. The twelfth release on their Elevate label, the track is composed of relentless minimal drums and a bombastic bassline that’s peppered with a swirl of acid. Over the course of eight wonderful minutes “Slash” never lets up — nor do we want it to for a single moment. “Slash” is as perfect a techno tune as you’ll hear these days.
