Tridact

Rogue Valley, Oregon-based electronic music producer Brandon Johnson creates captivating, melodious techno under the Tridact moniker.

Originally from California, he’s released music fueled by analog synths, punchy basslines and “groove boxes and random obsolete junk” on top labels, including Prins Thomas’ Internasjonal, Ghostly International and Moodgadget.

In the run-up to the release of his upcoming album, Unknown Planes, out later this month via his own Raydiata Music, we’re thrilled to world premiere the DIY video for “Teleskopik.”

As the track unfurls, a wave of lines, circles, squares and people dance across the screen amid an eye-catching kaleidoscope of swirling colors. It’s very trippy!

“I put the video together from many clips of abstract film,” Johnson tells us.

Premiere: Cavego – Rask Gange

Norwegian producer Cavego returns to Ghent-based Eskimo Recordings with another nu-disco delight. Set for release on June 12, the master’s Dovregubben EP packs four heady synth-tastic romps.

We’re pleased to world premiere the open track “Rask Gange” from the release, which is available today as a single.

On the taut 3:47 cut, Cavego gets right down to business by laying down a shimmering ’80s-inspired four-on-the-floor groove. He generously dusts it with pop melodies and Italo-house vibes for days. Let’s give him extra credit for adding those choice vintage-sounding drum fills and airy backing vocals.

Premiere: Weska – Catalyst

Talented Toronto-bred techno titan Weska has amassed an impressive discography over the past few years. After garnering international attention by way of notable releases on Drumcode, Suara, Filth On Acid and Kraftek, he made a professional pivot in 2019 to digitally self-release his productions without a label.

The rising DJ/producer is energized by his DIY ethos on his upcoming Fourth Wave EP. Weska leverages the freedom to let loose another inspired collection of hard-hitting tracks that elevates his work to a new plateau.

We’re thrilled to world premiere “Catalyst,” a dark and foreboding offering from the three-cut release.

Over seven tense minutes, Weska constructs a taut, menacing groove that’s packed with big kick drums, meandering synth lines and a persistent female vocal sample (“you need me”).

Premiere: Rorquals and Dead Circuits – Collision (Alien Remix)

RORQUALS & DEAD CIRCUITS - Symbiosis

Drone/experimental/ambient musicians Rorquals (Rob Mells) and Dead Circuits (Paul Blackburn) have teamed up to release a split six-track album on Courier titled Symbiosis due later this month.

We’re thrilled to world premiere the pair’s celestial, atmospheric “Collison” collaboration reimagined by Alien (a.k.a. Alastair Johnson of Masal and Palindromes and the Ship Full of Bombs radio station).

On the non-LP remix, Johnson builds his techno-fied re-rub over a chugging, expansive groove and haunting synth lines that’s tailor-made for a gigantic warehouse party (remember those?).
