Working under his SK Shlomo alias, Simon Shlomo Kahn is an impressive singer-songwriter, beatboxer, producer and live looping technologist based in London. His lengthy list of accomplishments includes recording with Björk to playing the main stage at Glastonbury.

Khan’s upcoming fan-funded debut album, Surrender, due in March 2019, is a deeply personal record where he opens up about his struggles with depression and PTSD. The full-length’s introspective second single, “The First Time,” has been remixed by Nebula Productions label boss Lost Raven, who reimagines the song through the lens of ’90s UK garage.

We’re thrilled to world premiere the red-hot remix that’s brimming with deep basslines, shuffling beats and atmospherics à la genre godfathers Double 99, 187 Lockdown and Artful Dodger.

Says Kahn of the remix, “I love how Lost Raven has preserved the meaning and emotions of this really personal song but at the same time has given it an old-skool speed garage party vibe. I can’t wait to play this out, it’s going to go off!”

Nearly two decades into their career, Soul Clap’s list of professional feats are many. Eli Goldstein and Charles Levine have collectively poured their blood, sweat and tears into realizing a soulful sound that has one foot in the past, the other in the future. Their dedication, vision and unwavering attention to quality has won them a faithful fanbase that’s allowed them to rock international dance floors, produce and remix movement-inducing jams, collaborate with the likes of Nona Hendryx to Parliament-Funkadelic’s George Clinton, and run a label that exists to shine the spotlight on their coterie of talented friends.

Having faced his share of challenges and lived to tell, the timing couldn’t be more right for Levine to explore his Lonely C alias, a project in which he plays guitar and keyboards, drum programming and handles arrangements. The result of more than five years of work is his heartfelt debut solo album, Charles & Tribulations, an introspective collection of songs in which he throws down like you’ve never heard him before.

After presenting their acclaimed Juno-nominated full-length debut in 2016 and subsequent Kingfisher EP, Concubine, a collaborative project comprised of Thoughtless label boss Noah Pred and Rick Bull (a.k.a. Deepchild), have outdone themselves with their new full-length, 2018.

The pair met at a studio in Berlin earlier in the year and reflected on the treacherous path the world is slowly going down. Together, they channeled their collective angst into an elegant pastiche of dub techno and electro-driven soundscapes. The result is a cosmic work of sheer sonic beauty.

Ahead of 2018‘s release on November 15, we’re pleased to world premiere the music video of the album’s closing track “Decenter” directed by Pred.

“Steeped in the familiar hypnogogia of post-rave Berlin, ‘Decenter’ was the first tune started in Concubine’s latest album sessions,” Pred tells us. “It closes the record with quirky but euphoric Juno leads and a titular nod to rhizomatic influences, alluding to recent fascinations with decentralized exchange (and perhaps even consciousness).”
